KCM Automotive

KCM Automotive is an automotive repair company based north of Warkworth. Specialising in vehicle maintenance ranging from general cars right through to trailers and light trucks.

Hayden Taylor, owner and operator of KCM Automotive, needed a new commercial workshop that would not only improve operational efficiency but differentiate his business from competitors and reflect the high-quality work they provide their clients on a daily basis.

While researching new workshop solutions Hayden discovered Alpine Buildings and could tell right away that Alpine was the right company to partner with. They were, as he says, “the best pick of the bunch.”

KCM Automotive had spent 15 years in their old workshop and were frustrated with the restrictive three-metre-high ceilings and general lack of space for both operations and storage, all of which created a cramped environment impacting day-to-day workflow and client experience.

These frustrations led to size and height being the number one must-haves for Hayden's new commercial workshop. Height was especially important as having the vertical space for vehicle hoists was where KCM Automotive would see the greatest efficiencies.

In addition to this Hayden needed a design that would also allow for a customer reception area to provide the exceptional client experience KCM Automotive strive for.

The end result was a 12m x 18m clearspan workshop that was 6.6m at the top of the gable, maximising available floor space and providing the height to give the flexibility and machine manoeuvrability KCM Automotive needed.

The other design elements that really stood out to Hayden were the Zero-Bird-Perch rafters which ensure a clean and mess-free workshop, as well as the timber framing which makes running compressed air lines and electricity effortless,  while the clearlight panels in the roof maximise natural light during the day.

Another benefit was Alpine's in-house design team who were able to incorporate Hayden's vision for a dedicated customer reception area into the floorplan. This reception area now provides a stylish seating area where customers can sit and view the workshop as their vehicle maintenance is carried out.

  • Large clearspan design provides greater useable space as well as easy machine manoeuvrability.
  • Large roller doors make for easy vehicle access.
  • Clearlight panels utilize the north-facing position and provide ample natural light throughout the day.
  • Kitset delivery made for easy installation with all parts delivered on time, on-site, with everything in place where it should be.
