Ops Team Update
Welcome to Richard, who joins the Famous Five Ops team while Darryn is away. Great to have you on board.
A nice run of good-sized kitsets this month – excellent work from the team.
We're making solid progress on updating our sliding door system, and the new Revit plans along with the updated ML are looking great.
Max has been developing his de-icing skills in the south-side car park.
A big cheers to Jonny and his balaclava-clad team for braving these frosty mornings and keeping things moving.
Thanks to Hartley for his ability to ride the waves while coping with his massive workload (here & at home).😁
On the freight front, Scott continues to make impressive gains in the ongoing "Freight Wars", securing backloads heading north.
These tidy rigs alone have saved us a couple of grand on loads to the North Island.
Imagine an Alpine one of these flying the Alpine flag from south to north & back.
Keep up the great work, everyone.
Julius Katzke - Attika Senior Quantity Surveyor
Busy stretch in the QS team. Most of it has been tender work, and the rest has been keeping on top of client-side changes.
The biggest tender on the desk is an electric bus depot in Porirua, where we're pricing as a delivery partner to the operator. Two new buildings, and the site has to be operational by mid 2028. It's the most document-heavy job we've touched in a while: a full consultant design, 94 sheets of architectural drawings, and 42 separate client pricing lines to reconcile against our own subcontract packages. We've deliberately gone with a closed panel of preferred subcontractors rather than throwing it out to a wide tender. More coordination up front, but we're pricing off people we know will turn up.
Ballance Bulk Storage Facility Kaikohe has come off the blocks. Building consent is granted, and we're locking contractors in now.
Apogee at Alexandra Airport is ramping up too, with civil and reinforcing out to market. Central Otago is thin on subcontractor capacity, so the real challenge there isn't getting prices in. It's finding people we can trust to deliver a high-end project.
Silverdale is where most of the team's capacity is going right now. Variations and scope demarcation mostly, with Jo carrying a big load: tendering, processing claims, juggling a steady run of client change requests, and sitting at the centre of every drawing update while keeping the client in the loop. Glue on that job.
Quieter one in the background: our own consultant appointment agreements are drafted and close to rolling out. Once they're in play, we stop accepting whatever terms a consultant sends through, which takes a layer of risk off us before it ever reaches a project.
Looking forward to getting the Porirua Bus Depot price away, and to seeing Ballance and Apogee break ground.
Project $7.5M / Project $20M

GBS Update

July 29th 2026
On Wednesday, we updated the actuals for June and the forecast for July, putting our EBITDA for the 2027FY to $3.6mil. This is a slight decrease from last time, however,
There are opportunities in Alpine and Attika division to beat the current forecasted EBITDA – keep up the great work!
It was great to hear some stories from the team – Everyone is in sales! 💯
