Derrell Meyer — Hamurana, Rotorua

“If you are going to summarise what an Alpine Shed is, it's quality."

The Situation

Derrell Meyer runs a 60-acre dry stock farm in Hamurana, working the property alongside a full-time job off-farm. Between general farm machinery,  pick-up trucks, and a full set of implements, there was a growing fleet left out in the elements with no proper protection.

Derrell's assets needed to be under cover, out of the weather, and protected from birds and vermin.

Why Alpine

Derrell had already been researching clearspan sheds when he came across an Alpine building on a farm he was visiting to buy equipment from.

"I took one look at it, and I could see the quality in it, so I hunted down Alpine there and then."

From the first phone call to Alpine, the process was simple,  with design, council consent, and delivery all handled in-house.

What Mattered to Them

Derrell had a clear brief and no interest in compromising on it.

Clearspan Design. Space to move machinery freely without centre poles getting in the way.

"It had to be large, have height, and it needed to have a clearspan design so we could move things around inside without poles being in the way."

Drive-Through Access. Automatic roller doors at both ends for ease of access.

"We needed a drive-through section so we could come through from one side and straight through and out the other."

Birdproof, Vermin-Proof Protection. With an RV parked alongside the farm machinery, keeping birds and rodents out was non-negotiable.

"By design, the shed is bird-proof; there's nowhere for them to settle or to nest. The whole thing is sealed."

The Result

15.0m wide x 28.8m long
6 x 4.8m wide bays
4.8m high, up to 6.4m high at the apex
8 Roller doors - 4.2m high x 4.0m wide

Builder Travis Conway had the shed assembled in two weeks flat, with the council inspection booked in the day after he started.

What stood out to Derrell wasn't only the finished shed - it was how smoothly it all came together.

"There were no hiccups or surprises, which is practically unheard of. It made this a really enjoyable experience. It's quality the whole way through. If you are going to summarise what an Alpine Shed is, it's quality."
