Andrew Hawke — Canterbury

Andrew Hawke had wanted to build a shed for years. He needed somewhere to park the car and caravan, and a separate area to kit out as a mancave to showcase his special taxidermy collection, which has been growing for years.

He'd had several shed companies quote his project, mostly steel-frame designs, but none of them were cutting it.

Andrew googled ‘the best sheds in Canterbury’, and Alpine came up. After exploring the website, he was impressed with the timber-framed design. 

"I'm a keen timber guy, and I thought timber's a much better option in terms of fixing things to the walls."

Andrew was put in touch with Mike Wright, who has been building Alpine sheds for many years. Mike sealed the deal for Andrew - not by selling, but by working through what the site could handle.

"He's (Mike) a real solutions-orientated guy. He's not just out to sell a shed or put a shed up - he went the extra mile for me."

For Andrew, this was his dream shed, and with assets worth protecting, he wanted to do it once. And do it right.

Timber Poles and Framing. The timber framing made it easy for Andrew to fully line the shed with 18mm plywood lining, then fix shelving, wiring, and fittings to it. This created a tidy finish and makes the space  “a nice place to be.”

Separate areas for different storage requirements. Car, caravan, and general storage at one end. A fully enclosed mancave at the other, built to showcase a prized taxidermy collection.

Quality Materials. "The timber that comes out on the truck is all straight and clear. The quality of the timber itself is really very good."

Thick Structural Steel. The 5-10mm thick, hot-dip galvanised structural steel rafters used in the roof are not light C-channel or 1-2mm thick cold-rolled steel.

"It's not just a simple light C-channel, it's a proper steel galvanised beam."

The kit set arrived on one truck. Easy to unload, easy to build.

"It all came as one truckload, easy to unload. Just simple all the way. Everything went like clockwork, to be honest."

Andrew got his dream shed - vehicle and general storage on one side, then a custom, fully fitted out mancave area at the other end. He's since spoken to two or three others who've built Alpine sheds off the back of his.

"I'm a happy customer. I haven't heard any complaints from anyone."

He tells others looking to do a shed project: "Really think hard about what you want to put in. Don't work to the minimum size."
